Good soup, service, could be better. Need some decoration. Will be back for some more soup soon.

Sometimes looks can be deceiving. You drive by a run down strip mall and think it automatically sucks before learning there's a mom and pop place residing in there low key with some of the best food in town. Yeah, that's not the case here. The service and decor was pretty much substandard on all levels. Slow service, no refills offered and our server was more concerned with eating lunch than doing her job. I had to leave the table to hunt down a refill. I wasn't overly impressed with the Pho because of the skimpy portions of beef they used. For $8.99, I essentially received a big ass bowl of dollar store ramen broth and noodles with a few cuts of questionable meat thrown in. It tasted alright but I was definitely bitter about the experience and I still am. I arrived starving and left hungry, never a good look. Hate to drop a two star on a locally owned business but you get what you deserve. Ain't no love on Dequindre.

My apologies on the one star but simply, this place made enough money to not care anymore. If you've been going here for a long time, you will definitely notice the difference in the broth. Enough MSG please, thank you.

Tasty pho restaurant in the neighborhood! Prices are very reasonable and nothing beats a hot steaming bowl of soup & noodles on a cold day. Highly Recommended!

The service and food is amazing. Right when we sat down there was a waitress there within seconds and once ordered the food appeared within what seems like a few minutes. They also have pictures of almost everything on the menu to guide you in what you want (which I love when foreign set restaurants do that to help) I'm just discovering Vietnamese food and I must say that it's just plain delicious. I would recommend this place to folks who love Vietnamese and I will most definitely be back.

I've been punched before. Kicked before, had my heart broken before. But nothing compared to the pain I experienced last night when I ordered from here. Let me tell you a story that will undoubtedly tug on your hearstrings like no other. I had to order some fried rice for a potluck at work the next day, so I thought, "why not order something for myself too?" Little Saigon (curse them) closed an hour early, so I had to go here. But I've been here before, and it was good, so I thought why not? It's close, it's familiar. The rice was good, but the dish I ordered (PICTURE BELOW), was horrendous. It looked like they just microwaved the rice rolls and cut them up and put them in the box. Same with the pork patties. They didn't even bother to separate the rice to make it look good. It was just THERE. Like wtf? I could've made this by myself at home, and make it look better than this. I ordered at 9:10, and they closed at 10:00. So maybe they ran out of food and was like "F*ck it, we'll just give it to him to get his money." F*ck me indeed. They also put 4 orders (3 fried rice boxes and 1 rice roll box) in the same bag, causing the weight of the rice to smash and bend the boxes below it. And all in one bag! Not even double wrap. So I'm left insulted and heartbroken. Never again, Pho Hang, never again. 2 stars because rice was good, and rice roll box was edible. Seriously, where's Drake to write a sad song when I need him?

Terrible place. The service was one of the worst in metro area. The food smelled of weird oil and chicken was undercooked. Like previous reviewers have said I'd not recommend it for anyone.

First THE GOOD: - The dining room is spacious, lots of seating - They are open from 8a-11p every day, about as good as it gets w/o being 24 hours. - The menu is fairly extensive, more options than you'll find at most of the competitors. - They put fresh mint leaves in their Bun dishes. I wish everybody did this. - They serve up a very good bowl of pho. - They have a fish tank full of live tilapia which they will butcher and cook on the spot. No clue how authentic this is but it certainly adds an air of awesomeness. Now THE NOT AS GOOD: - The food is good but for my tastes not as good as several of the local competitors. Better pho at Thu Trang and my other go-to dishes (Bun/Com) are done comparably but better at Little Saigon* (as well as at Pho Tai and Que Huong). - I've had some very poorly trimmed tendon in my pho at Pho Hang. The texture was like biting into an eyeball with the lens still attached. - Dealing with the parking lot sucks, especially during peak hours. My insurance company would for sure jack my rates if they knew I was visiting this strip mall semi-regularly. * Note that Little Saigon was bought last year (hostile take-over?) by one of the Pho Hang people. This is just personal opinion/preference, but I would suggest you follow her over there. That being said, Pho Hang is still a solid option.

Not a fan, the food is sub par, the service is lacking, and the tables and seats are arranged so closely, you feel like you're in an overbearingly crowded dance club...for sitting people. People literally bump into you walking around and if you get a seat next to the deli showcases, bless your soul because you can literally lean back an inch and rest your back onto the surface of the showcase. If you want service, you have to literally get up from your table and walk over to the waiter, or you can holler from your table like a chimpanzee. Seriously, you would have to call them in an ape-like voice. I've given this place multiple tries with larger crowds as its tables can cater to larger crowds compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, but have been less than satisfied with their food. They can seat 10-14 at any one table, whereas other Vietnam's restaurants sit 6-8 at a table, so at least there's that. I'm a person that can forgive bad service, but bad food? That seems to not be improving? Never. This place is always bustling with customers on Sundays...more so than most Vietnamese restaurants around the area, but is severely overrated.

I've been trying to find a good pho restaurant in the Detroit area and after my cousins recommendation, I tried this place. I went with a couple of friends and we were extremely disappointed. The pho broth was bland, which is crazy. How can pho be bland? The peanut sauce that comes with the summer rolls tasted like peanut butter. My friend got chicken fried rice and it was just white rice with chicken and veggies. The service was alright, nothing spectacular. It was just disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant.

This place is a rockstar basically for one big reason. TONS OF PICTURES IN THE MENU. God let me tell you how much I love when 'Order by #' meets 'Order by Picture', pure bliss! They do some solid eats here. I like the infusion of Chinese flavors and dishes. I had the #37 shrimp wonton soup my first visit, very good. When I had the House Special Bun Thit Nuong the pork was really overcooked. Everything else in it was awesome. I've had pho like 10 times, but this was my first Bun Thit. It really was a great cool noodle salad with protein for a summer dish, so I definitely enjoyed it. Was I supposed to eat this with chopsticks, or the fork? I used both lol. I was a total noob eating it. That's like when I found out for Bibimbap Korean dish you use the spoon, and chopsticks gives you away as an ameture, lol. I'll edit this as I try more at Pho Hang. Wanted to get this stuff out before I forgot.

I'd been searching for good Asian dry noodles for sometime. I was taken by my business associate to the restaurant for lunch today. I ordered stir fried assorted meat and egg noodles. It was really good, it didn't have too much sauce in the noodles to overkill the great taste of the meat and noodles. The taste was just right. It was such a pleasant surprise to come by a restaurant offering tasty dry noodles like this. I'll come back again to try different items next time when I'm in town.

I've been going to this place for the past 4 years, it's been consistently awesome. Pho is all about the broth and the broth here is so on point. The noodles are fresh, beef is cut into nice thin slices, food comes out at a pretty reasonable speed, around 5-10 minutes for a bowl, maybe a bit longer if you have more people. The place is a bit cramped for seating. I think the tables are an awkward size because it's a bit too big for two people, but then when you try to seat four it's cramped, and you end up weirdly seating tree people. But the bigger tables are fine, you should definitely go for those when you're seating yourself. They keep the place clean and it's usually not too crowded for loud. Service is fine, they'll refill your water, but they're not super talkative, but I like it that way because then I can just immerse myself in the pho. I noticed that they did raise their prices over the past year, I believe it's $9 for a bowl of pho now, but I don't mind paying an extra dollar considering how much better it is than all the other pho places in Troy/Madison Heights/Metro-Detroit. Yeah everyone, if you want to eat pho, PLEASE GO HERE. It's awesome. Can't say anything about the other food here, but their pho is awesome. It's called Pho Hang, order pho, don't order fried rice or a sandwich, order PHO. If you've never had pho and you want to get something else, don't. Pho is the best food ever, tastes like heaven, it's actually even healthy. Pho is perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch; any time is pho time. I would eat pho in a box, I would eat it with a fox. I would eat pho in a house, I would eat pho with a mouse. Eat pho here. ORDER PHO. If you don't know what to get, get #27 (pho with rare beef slices). It's a classic. I hate vegetables, so if you hate vegetables too, get it without onions or greens, it might not look as good on Instagram but it's still magically delicious. Don't be surprised if the beef comes out looking a bit raw, it's supposed to cook in the soup. So mix it around first, put the beef on the bottom and after a minute, it's cooked. Additional tips: They don't accept credit card for under $10, so either bring cash or combine the bill if you're going with someone else! I wouldn't go here if it's an hour before closing. I think the broth just isn't as fresh. Order pho.

What: The stop in Madison Heights when you are craving a big bowl of hot, steamy pho. Do not expect good service because that's not why you came here. How: Sit down and ask for the sugarcane shrimp appetizer. Order extra mint. Must: Definitely order a dinner order of chicken (stock) pho or if you are seasoned, tripe and beef pho. Mint and sprouts go directly into the bowl; order extra limes for a fresh bowl squeeze. For the spicy palate, add Sriracha from the table. Otherwise, for the sweet palate, add Plum sauce. Be liberal. Tip: Pho can be eaten with the spoon and chopsticks for the noodles. #RajivRecommends80% #MadisonHeights #Asian

this is my to go Vietnamese food in Michigan..I have tried its vermicelli with different types of meats and Pho..I have to say it's pretty good. I have lived in California for man years, I have to say this is comparable of what i can get in California. They are pretty fast too. The dish are usually ready within 10 mins. I would recommend this place

One of the better Viet restaurants that I have tried in the area. You get good portions for the price. I have been here a few times and have gotten spring rolls, summer rolls, and calamari for appetizers which were all very good. For entrees, I stick with the most popular dishes like the pho combo soup and pork chop on rice. The soup is huge and I never am able to finish it in one sitting. The pork chop with rice is very tasty also. The pork chop is grilled and comes with a side of veggies and rice. While the rice looks like plain white rice, it has a sweet and savory flavor to it that I cannot describe. Makes cutting carbs difficult! I would rate this a 5 based on food, but I took off a star because of service. Service can be painfully slow. One time, we sat there for forty five minutes and I saw other people that came after us getting served. After I inquired about it, turns out that they lost my ticket. The food came out within 5 minutes after my complaint. So, yes, service is a hit or miss (mostly miss) regardless of how busy it is in there. My advice? Take out! I call in twenty minutes before I want to get there and there is never a problem.

Awesome Vietnamese! The best restaurant near by. Rare beef Pho and Spring role Vermicelli noodles are a must. Be sure to try the pork chops.

I don't normally review on Yelp, but, in this case, I felt like I had to. Although the pho is decent, the banh mi at Pho Hang is TERRIBLE. I love banh mi, and Pho Hang has the WORST banh mi I have ever tasted. What made the banh mi so bad is that it was served on a HOT DOG BUN. No, not a baguette, but a HOT DOG BUN. Pho Hang can't be serious with this. I thought that they might have been out of fresh baguette and had to use something more accessible, but I have been served this poor excuse for a banh mi on two separate occasions. I mean, a hot dog bun...get out of here with that. I should have taken a picture of this atrocity. I have had good experiences with other dishes here, including the fresh rolls, vermicelli bowls (which used to be better, but is now "passable"), and the pho. But, I cannot overlook their terrible banh mi. So, if you're coming here to order something other than a banh mi, then you should be fine. There is much better banh mi at Que Huong *end rant

Few hours ago we were here excited to get a Pho soup. Well we have a nasty mean guy waiter. He took our order and show what he wrote on my husbands face! Second, hubby order coffee. He gave us COLD COFFEE IN A PLASTIC CUP and COFFEE IS SPILLING! I ask him he understand hot seems like all of a sudden he forgot his English couldn't figure out the cold and the hot! Why hire a person who couldn't speak english well and why so nasty and mean? Will never go back to this place anyway their food is gettinG low quality. They should have a zero rate.

Good service for me being there almost closing time and has the same quality phó and noodle salad as I expected. Only missing spicier chili oil but most people can't handle so always bring your own !

This is another place I have been frequenting for sometime as it's literally across the street from my apartment. I LOVE Pho. Who doesn't? I never knew what it was until I moved to Madison Heights which happens to be Vietnamese central. Glad I found out what I was missing, life will never be the same! There are several restaurants serving pho in the mile radius of here so I've had the good, the bad, and the ugly. I wouldn't consider this place the worst, but I also wouldn't consider it the best. The food is generally delicious, although the consistency of flavors not as much. The waiters are hit and miss. Sometimes you get a nice one, sometimes you get one who will throw your silverware at you or you have to literally get up and ask them to come over to take your order. I'm white as can be and a few times I went with an asian guy and they brought him chopsticks and me a fork.. Wow. I was pretty put off by that. Also, I know Vietnamese culture is to not bring you a bill, so be prepared to get up and go ask for it (and a box.. servings are big!) whenever you're done. Otherwise you'll literally be there all day. The issue I had was with them not taking credit cards under $10. When I asked if they could just bring my bill up to $10 as I did not have cash, they denied me. I asked if they could just add a Diet Pepsi to-go to bring my $8.00 bowl of pho up to $10.00 and she stared at me like I was crazy, rolled her eyes, and gave me a half filled cup of soda (that cost them less than 20 cents). I realize me not having cash wasn't ideal, but I was willing to try and make things work and I wasn't asking for them to give me the world. Parking is horrendous. Don't drive a brand new car into the lot. Chances are it will get scratched. It's very crazy trying to park. BUT Pho Hang shares a lot with a place where you can get bubble tea and doing some ethnic asian grocery shopping after you're done eating so at least there's that. I would rate this place as "okay". Pretty good food. Crazy parking lot. Spotty service. There are better places to get pho in Madison Heights!

The pho here is still pretty legit. I came here a lot as a kid and thought the bowls of pho were rather large. When I came here yesterday the pho did not have a lot of meat. The pork spring rolls didn't have much pork, but the sauce was delicious and the roll had basil in it.

Pho Hang has gone downhill since they've changed ownership. I heard that the previous owners now own Little Saigon, and I am not one bit surprised as I love Little Saigon now! This review is solely for their pho (#25) with the beef tripe, tendon and meatballs and their summer rolls. We ordered takeout on a tuesday night and the lack of meat in my box was a bit surprising. The broth was also very fatty and the tendons were not soft and gelatinous like they should be. Instead it was very hard and crunchy to the point it was inedible. Rather than given lime, they now give lemons. I assume because lemons are cheaper than limes are as well. I moved onto the summer rolls which come in a package of three. The summer roll wrapper was hard and not fresh at all. It tasted like they had rolled it earlier that day and refrigerated it because of how tough the wrapper was. On top of that, the pork was very fatty rather than lean. One of the spring rolls only had a half side of a shrimp while the other two had one full shrimp (two halves). My family is a long time customer of pho hang but we have decided to move our business elsewhere.

Nothing beats a steaming hot bowl of vegetarian pho from here. It isn't on the menu, just ask! Tofu, carrots, peapods, mushrooms, baby corn, bok choy, broccoli, & cabbage. I admit the broth in the beef pho is a bit more flavorful, but the veggies more than make up for it. A downside to Pho Hang is parking - it's free and has a lot, but it's a very busy lot in my experience and not a lot of space to back out. Truthfully, I've ended up parking across the street at Family Video and walking across Dequindre to get here. Other items I've tried: avocado shake (yum - made with condensed milk, very thick), bahn mi (a little disappointing, very dry, but cheap and would try again), Vietnamese iced coffee (strong and tastes good sweetened), both spring rolls and fried rolls are good. All in all, the pho is the best. I rarely eat meat and there aren't many veg options here, but a lot of items can be made vegetarian. Staff has been friendly and attentive in my experience. Friends I've taken here have loved the pho and good prices. I'll continue going here for sure!

My friends told me not to come here but I decided to try it out anyway. Came here last week and ordered their Bun Bo hue soup. Took my first two bites of the meat and it was horrible. The meat tasted old and It made me vomit so I went to the restroom and threw up. While I was in the restroom , the friend that I came with told the server what happened and all she said was " oh ok" and walked away. I came back to the table and was ready to leave because I couldn't eat anymore. The server came to clean the table and I told her again what happened and she said " well everyone eats this dish and nothing happened to them. I just saw my co worker ate it today for lunch and she was fine". At this point I was more shocked of the customer service than the food itself. I asked for the check and she didn't even take that dish off the check! We paid and left. Never coming back here again.

THIS RESTURANT DOES NOT OPEN ON TIME! I was waiting with 3 more customers this morning in our cars and the girl waitress played with her phone in the car until 9:10 God knows how long does it take her to prepare and get noodles ready. They must honor their business hours.

Best freakin pork chops in the world. I can't imagine any cuisine making a better pork chop than the Vietnamese, and Phone Hang makes the best, I've tried so far. The goat and egg noodle soup was very good also

When I stopped traveling for work I was really worried I would not find a good Vietnamese place to eat. I had already searched the entire city of Cleveland and didn't expect things to get better in SE Michigan. I was wrong. Pho Hang is great. They don't stock out of the herbs, have friendly wait staff and have a great selection. Most importantly it tastes great. If you are in the Madison Heights area you have several option to choose from. Choose this one.

This is my go to place for Pho. I pretty much always get the #37 the seafood Pho with won ton noodles. I really appreciate that the broth is chicken (I don't eat, pork, beef or lamb) and it's very clean and clear. I tend to get into a habit and once I find something I like I stick to it. Time after time Pho Hang delivers.

Over the years this place has gone down in service and quality of food, the meat is very greasy. If you want to get Vietnamese food go around the corner the quality is a lot better.

  • Sara B.

I used to love this place and would come here at least once a week, but the last few times I"ve been there they haven't had ANY Thai Basil, and for anyone who likes Vietnamese food they know what a problem that is. It's like ordering chicken noodle soup only to find out there is no chicken. If they can get their act together and have ingredients there when they're supposed to this would be a 4.5 star restaurant for me, but without proper ingredients I can't help but be disappointed.

Will Keep this short: The banh mi sandwiches are made from a Walmart Hotdog bun. I read this somewhere but did not believe it.. Well, BELIEVE IT!!!. Hotdog bun!!! And they put a piece of microwaved bacon as the meat claiming it is their pork banh mi. no kidding. Finally, they only have one price for the pho. It is 9.99, I believe. And the bowl is a small/medium size.

I would give this a 3.5. It's a small restaurant in a mostly Chinese/Vietnamese plaza that isn't the usual sit-down place. You seat yourself, a waitress will bring you water and a menu, and when you are done eating, you pay at the register. I was recommended this restaurant by a friend who's been a few times. I've gotten summer rolls as take-out before and now I realize how overpriced the appetizer is! I ordered the #30 pho and my boyfriend the #27 with no tendon. Our noodles came pretty quickly and after tearing up some basil, stirring in some bean sprouts ),and testing out a mystery herb on the plate, we were busy slurping away. The size of the bowl was much smaller than I was expecting at the price of $7.95. There wasn't as much meat and noodles as I've had at other pho places for the same price and less. The broth was very good - there's a hint of sweetness that I haven't tasted in any other pho broth before. I appreciated being left alone by the waitstaff after the food was delivered - it's definitely an authentic Asian restaurant (nasty bathroom - check!). Overall, I think it was pretty good but not worth the drive all the way to Dequindre. We went around 2 pm and the restaurant was still very busy so I would plan some extra time for waiting if you decide to make a trip out!

A soon-to-be-not-so-secret gathering spot for foodies and other adventurers fortunate enough to be trapped in metro-Detroit. The food is good and the prices are better; the environment is delightfully surreal if viewed through the flawed, homogeneous lens given to American suburbanites. Get a bahn-mi and a big bowl of vermicelli topped with spring rolls and other fried indulgences. Douse everything in fish sauce. Get a smoothie and realize that, if previously frozen, durian won't knock you over.

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I'm a huge fan of pho, I usually go down the street to either Little Saigon of Que Huong, but both were closed due to it being 4th of July. I came in and sat down for a good 10 minutes. None of the waitresses were acknowledging me, I had to get up and get their attention. Finally, I ordered the Deluxe Pho (Pho Dac Biet), an additional side of raw beef to put in the pho and an avocado smoothie. The pho finally came out and I assumed the beef was going to come out a little shortly after. I waited for about 5 minutes for the beef, I then continuously tried to get the waitress' attention to ask where it was. At that point, I was starving so I began eating the pho. I gained her attention and it turned out they had forgotten it. They eventually brought it out to me. But what do you know, the beef was still frozen! I could not believe it. I was flabbergasted at their lack of service. OH! And of course.. they forgot that I had ordered an avocado smoothie. I told them to just forget about it, I was just ready to leave. Pho was horrible and unimpressive, service was even worse. I will never be back. My advice, save yourself the hassle and go down to the street to Que Huong or Lil Saigon.

a perfect quick lunch before grocery shopping! a big bowl of soup with fresh veggi, yum~ the only i don't like is their bathroom...

  • Aaron B.

Extensive menu with many options to experiment with. Pricing is modest for Pho.. The fish tank with the swimming Tilapia is a trip... at least I know it's fresh, right? The service could be a touch better; one day the bus boy was in rather aggressive mood and was throwing all the stuff into the bustub. I also saw him carrying around a stack of cleaned glasses that he had stacked to the ceiling... hilarious! I secretly wondered if it would topple over. Sorry, I'm a sucker for schadenfreude.. when a server drops a plate or cup I can't help but laugh. But the food is great, the meat is tender, the broth and sauces delicious... the Durian milkshake is not for the light-hearted; try the avocado smoothie.

I have been going to this place for such a long time, I don't remember. I know the owner since he ran the pho place near universal mall. Excellent pho. This is the pho every place should be compared to. Top taste. I'll been to all the pho place in this area. I remember when there was only 2 pho places. Enjoy. You will not be disappointed. Also, they are open on Monday!!

They changed ownership and this place is going downhill. 2nd time I ordered #25, I have to add $1extra noodles. Very very very very little noodles and meat. The broth dosent taste as good as before. They are def trying to shortcut to save cost, but with all the competition nearby. They need to step up. I do not recommend this place

In the past, I would have given this place one or two stars at the most. It used to be the smallest, dingiest Vietnamese restaurant with lackluster waiters and mediocre food. However, thanks to a renovation and new management, Pho Hang may have a bright future after all. My old standbys at any Vietnamese restaurant are pho dac biet, bun thit, and com suon. I've had the pho and bun thit from Pho Hang and they are pretty good. The pho broth was light and flavorful with subtle hints of anise and cinnamon, not too overpowering. I would have liked it a bit more beefy but this was pretty good. The bun thit had perfect thin vermicelli noodles with plenty of barbecued pork, crispy spring rolls, shrimp, and crisp veggies that I doused with my sweet and salty fish sauce. The waitstaff are friendly although still could improve on etiquette but us Asians are not known for impeccable manners. I'm delighted to see the restaurant is better decorated with a little more elbow room. I plan on going to Pho Hang more often but definitely NOT on a Sunday unless I want a dent on my car due to the tiny parking lot and incompetent drivers.

This review is PHO specific. So far, out of 4 places in Warren/Madison Heights area, this place has the winner pho. The broth taste is close in other places, but Pho Hung's has a bit more flavor. The portions are comparable in all places, but Pho Hung has significantly more meat, better tasting meat, and properly cooked.

Another winner in the Asian part of Madison Heights. This whole strip center is very legit - it was entertaining watching Vietnamese security maintain order at the grocery store next door. It is definitely a largely Vietnamese crowd that patronizes this place. But I digress . . . The food is solid. They have all the staples: banh mi, pho, noodle dishes and rice dishes. They also have the requisite coffee and spring rolls. I went with vermicelli and grilled pork. No regrets there. The atmosphere leaves much to be desired with workers cutting and sorting herbs in the dining room. However, I think that just adds to the charm of the place. I wish this were just a bit closer to work. . . .

Not too bad. The tendon was always very tough and chewy. The broth was fairly good. For Michigan standards it's pretty good, but not as good as the West Coast.

My rating is based only the food and not the Vietnamese culture or it's meek quit people. This is really the only good Vietnamese restaurant in Metro Detroit. I grew up in San Diego which has a large Vietnamese population and had plenty of Vietnamese friends and I know good Vietnamese food when I taste it. I just absolutely love every single menu item and I've tried them all. The food is authentic home made Vietnamese food which is delicious to the last bite. Plus it's ma pa owned and operated which I prefer over the corporate owned places which tend to be pricey and the food is too Americanized. The place is usually packed with Vietnamese people which is a good sign and the entire staff is also Vietnamese which is another good sign. So if you want to experience good Vietnamese food this place is the place to do it at.

Overall it isn't too bad. I went to this place because I saw all the great reviews. However it's not the best pho I've tasted. It lacks flavor in the broth and for some people like me it's the broth that makes the pho.

Zzz talk about tasteless broth and horrible order taker waiter. BAD -The plate of vegetable isn't fresh. -broth is really bland -hot tea tasted like robitussun mixed tea GOOD -viet coffee... Can't mess that up -the only friendly one was the guy waiter who brings out the orders Everything else is ridiculous... Don't get me wrong, I Loveeee Vietnamese food... But I don't know how this is surviving haha

I'm a white guy, and sort of felt a little bit out of my element the first time I went here. Thankfully, my wife is Asian and the staff here is very friendly. Pho Hang is the first and only place to go for a great-tasting, hot, and fast bowl of Pho. The tables are close to each other, and loaded with different hot sauces and peppers to make your food as spicy as you like. The majority of customers are Asian, so I guess that means it's authentic. All I know is the food tastes great, especially the #32.

Winter hours: Open until 10pm Great pho. Prices are reasonable. Ginger tea is delicious. Guy in baseball hat is quiet but nice. Fresh rolls are flavorful. Table spacing sucks. Small, middle-aged lady hates Obama, calls him stupid monkey.

Just let you guys who doesnt know this, that the cook who always cooked for this restaurant a past few years is now cooking at Little Saigon Restaurant, which is a few block away from Pho Hang going south. I don't like pho Hang right now at all, a small part was because of the cook, and the big thing is the way they serve. The waitresses tend to be nicer to American than Vietnamese, probably because they expect higher tips from American so they give a better service.

From its aesthetic, Pho Hang looks like any other subpar/cheap local (Southeast) Asian eatery. I wanted something that would fill me up and that wouldn't kill my budget so I rolled the dice and took a seat here. I'm very glad I did. You get the sense that the owners of this restaurant didn't care much about Western restaurant traditions and subtleties, they just wanted to give people an authentically Vietnamese culinary experience. Maybe with a tiny bit of MSG added now. Oh well! It was great! The menu has so many nonstandard choices that they put a ** next to some items that say to ask for the ingredients (I did and there is some weird stuff in some of them!). My waitress helped me with pronunciation of my order when I asked and she told me how to eat things in the traditional Vietnamese style. She had helpful suggestions for what to order. I got the crispy duck and noodles in a dark broth, which had mushrooms, bok choy and celery as well. Fresh basil and bean sprouts were provided to mix in to the soup. There were four different spicy additions at the table to choose from. Gosh I enjoyed my meal so much there's no way I won't be back here at some point! Definitely at this price (~$9) I would say the tastiness to expensiveness ratio is off the charts. The ambience of the restaurant is lacking but the service and food more than make up for it.

My parents live literally two minutes down the street from Pho Hang and it has become one of my favorites. Yes, my mother is vietnamese, but I was born in Michigan and as such, I really don't understand all the chatter when I eat here. But regardless, it is some of the best Vietnamese food in the city. (Madison Heights is a veritable Vietnamesetown with Pho Hang, Que Huong, Thuy Trang, Little Saigon, etc. A ton of people have written about the pho, and it's great, but what I really love is the Bun (Rice Vermicelli). Hands down the best lunch I can get for under $8. The Bun with Spring Rolls and Grilled Pork is fabulous. Bun is like a cross between spaghetti and pho... no soup to slurp, but great flavors such as the fresh mint, bean sprouts, and noodles with fish sauce.... egg rolls are cut into 4ths and you get a nice size portion of flavorful pork. If you are especially adventurous try the House Special Bun... not only do you get eggrolls, and the grilled pork, but also fresh shrimp, chinese ham, and a fried shrimp cake. At $10.50, it's one of the most expensive bun dishes, but it's worth every penny. I also enjoy the Banh Mi sandwich there- they kind of do skimp on the meat, but it's still very tasty. Sometimes if I'm looking to indulge my inner Viet foodie, I get a bun dish and then the Banh Mi to go. Always make sure you eat the Banh Mi toasted... either in your oven or they'll do it for you if you ask for it hot. I have not tried the bun anywhere else yet in Madison Heights as I'm living in Canton now, but will try Que Huong in the near future! Someone from Madison Heights open a good Vietnamese restaurant near Canton!

My fave Vietnamese restaurant in the Detroit area. The house pho is not to be missed (be sure to add lots of culantro). Since I usually can't pass up the opportunity for pho, I haven't tried much of the menu, but the spring rolls were great, the fresh roll good, and while the Banh mi were good, there are better nearby (but still good enough to grab them - at a mere $3 each - for lunch the next day). With the awesome Asian grocery next door and the Vietnamese bakery just a couple doors down, we make an evening of it! Highly recommended.

This review ill round out my viet porkchop over rice tour in Madison, MI last week. The place is not realli memorable for anything aside from the quantity. You get 2, yes count 2 pieces of porkchop per the specific order # of which i forget just remember it came with 2 fried eggs that were cooked over medium and the crab patty thing with some dried pork. +1 for the fact that you get much more food than the competition, but you get no more than 4 stars as the quality of pork chop was not as nice as Que Huong. Still this place makes better grilled porkchop over rice than all of the places I tried in flushing, queens, NY. go figure.

very good authentic food, you can tell because there are more Asian than American customer. Best Pho I had. Restaurant is as basic as it can be. Certainly not the right place for clean-freaks. Typical casual Asian restaurant. focus on the food, not the restaurant.

When I come home to MI this is on my list of top places to go. It's always consistent and never disappoints. The pho is amazing and the hot delicious broth makes me come back every-time. The price for a bowl of pho with just the beef is 7.00$ but you can ask for a small bowl for a cheaper price. I suggest to go after peak hours just because I notice the broth tends to be hotter and just tastes better. Also I love the condiments for pho! Dandelion greens, Thai basil, and siracha make it taste even better then it already does. The simplicity in this dish always satisfies my soup craving and brings me back every time. If you're not a pho fan their ban mi sandwiches are a different taste of Asian meets a crusty white french bread. I also love their crispy and always hot spring rolls with sweet and sour vinegar sauce. This place always brings food out promptly and never disappoints my tastebuds! Can't go wrong with hot pho and crispy spring rolls.

Pho Hang is like the Pegasus of Vietnamese cuisine around these parts. It's a factory. You come in, you get food, you go. There isn't an emphasis on quality, it's promptness. I got greeted with the traditional "What you want?" and of course, I ordered by numbers... same thing I usually get when I test a place out, just different numbers. Spring rolls with pork and shrimp, and a bun with grilled pork and egg rolls. The spring rolls were so so sad. It's a spring roll, it's supposed to be springy -- or fresh or happy or something! The peanut sauce was watered down, the rolls were slopped together, and everything was just flavorless and totally unappetizing. I love gui cuon, I love all of the crunchiness, the saltiness, the heat, the brine of the shrimp, the freshness of the mint ... I love it ALL. But these ... I threw out the other two. I couldn't do it. Ah but my prized bun ... the pork was totally bland. There wasn't enough fresh veggies, a small sprig of mint ... It just left me craving for that "pop" of flavor you get when you eat Vietnamese food. That "wow, where has this been all my life?" kind of flavor. A lotta smoking, crazy busy, slightly rude staff, and no flavor. Sorry Pho Hang, you are at the bottom of my Vietnamese of Detroit list.

Decent but not great. The broth didn't bring as much flavor as I'm used to, and the sauce didn't bring as much heat as I like. I would give it another try if I was working closer, but I can't say it justifies a drive.

I love pho and after reading the previous reviews on Yelp, I decided to check this place out. When my friend and I arrived, we were asked to pick a seat, they gave us our menus, and didn't come back for 10 minutes. Which was fine because I don't like being bombarded by the server for what I want to order before looking through the menu. I ordered the chicken pho and fresh sugarcane juice and my friend ordered the vegetable pho (not on the menu) and fresh coconut juice. Everything tasted really good and I was quite surprised. The only con's I have and my reason for giving 4/5 stars is that I had asked for jalapeño's for my pho and didn't get any until I asked 3 times (so somewhat poor service) and when we got our receipt the price of our drinks were different than what was on the menu. They actually had 3 different prices in 3 different places for the sugarcane juice and of course the "correct price" was the highest price. All in all, it was a great place and I would go back again for some pho :)

Yes, this place has Banh Mi Thit Nuong. It is listed under the shakes and smoothies area of their carry-out menu (item #93 if you struggle with the pronunciation like I do). The sandwich is a-ok (hence the 3-star rating), but Que Huong is far superior. The Banh Mi Thit Nuong here lacks the amazing grilled pork goodness. Still, I'd swing by when a late-night Vietnamese craving hit (they're open until 11PM y'all!).

This is one of those places that I have no problems driving 45 minutes across town for, even if it's in the dead of winter. The food and the prices are THAT good. The portion size is very generous. The menu is huge and there are Chinese dishes as well as Vietnamese dishes. Everything looks good, but I pretty much only go there for 2 things, the House Special Pho (#25), and even though it's not officially on the menu, the half order of the Spring Rolls (2 rolls instead of standard 4). The spring rolls come out still glistening from the oil straight from the fryer. It comes with a sweet sauce for dipping, and that takes the spring rolls from great to awesome. I love the House Special Pho because it has everything but the kitchen sink in it. Add some Thai basil, bean sprouts, hoisin sauce, and Srirracha, and you're in for a true treat. There's nothing better than a bowl of hot pho on a really cold day. It's hard for me to justify branching out to other menu items because I only get to go to Pho Hang about 3-4 times a year. Go there!

I first had their pho when we were in town house hunting 4 years ago and the whole fam caught the flu. We were in an extended stay place in Troy and desperately in need of some healing broth. In my 102 degree haze, I told my husband who didn't grow up here just to head south on Dequindre or John R and look for somewhere with "pho" in the name. Voila, enter Pho Hang. He came back with two orders of pho tai which we lived off for the next two days, not being able to eat much at a time. I attribute it to my relatively quick healing. That and the fresh squeezed juice at Grape Leaves. yelp.com/biz/grape-leave… For the uninitiated, Andrea Nguyen, whose recipe I've used to make pho at home for almost a decade, describes it best, in this month's Saveur: "In Vietnam, pho is mostly a breakfast food: the heady soup awakens your senses and prepares you for the day. Countless versions exist, but they all contain rice noodles and an aromatic broth seasoned with shallots, ginger, fish sauce, salt, and spices such as black cardamom, fennel, cassia (cinnamon), star anise, and cloves." Pho Hang's is full of the sweet aromatics which waft out as soon as you breath in its scent. Besides being tasty star anise is said to fight the flu in Korean and Chinese herbal medicine, and I believe it. We've since gotten carry out a dozen times or more, out of convenience. When I'm down for asian veggies next door at Kim Nhung Superfood yelp.com/biz/kim-nhung-s… it's so much easier to order here instead of carting the kiddos on another errand. To drink, I love the limeade and so do the kids. I wasn't aware that they were Chinese owned... I'm going to have to do a side-by-side taste off with Que Huong's or Thuy Trang's broth. No complaints on the bun (noodle bowls) either. Note: I've yet to find their menu online or to find a carry out menu at the registers so I tend to stick to the above items and order ahead. Edit: Or see Janelle's photos of the menu here on Yelp. Thanks Lorna E!

one of THE most authentic viet food restaurant EVER. Lotta viet people eat there. They tend to talk very loud, but that's just how the language works. There is a lot of nasal sound that can't be prounced lightly. anyways, my personal favorite is number 56, Two giant slab of pork chops with some lettuce and tomato. I lost count how many times I went there now. Number 56 has never disappointed me. their Pho and pork chops are awesome. Other stuff like fried rice and noodles are really sub par. I had some wonton noodle and it tasted awful. the wontons were totally frozen and shipped from somewhere. i will just order my number 56 going forward, i am not that confident after trying other dishes many times. only draw back is that when this place is packed, you will NOT have enough room to eat. They pack in WAY too many tables and chairs.

I love this place. A steaming bowl of broth and noodles is a great lunch or dinner. I especially like a dish they have here that no one else seems to have. It is a beef stew with carrots and a dark broth. It is fairly spicy with a hint of cinnamon(?). The beef is tendony and looks a little rough, but dang is that broth out of this world. I've also had a bunch of other dishes here, the Pho, the pork chop with fried egg, the spring rolls, the fresh rolls, all of it is delicious. The perfect food for a cold day. Then I pop over to the bakery and maybe even the barbecue place afterward. Gotta love this little strip mall.

Something about their pho broth doesn't quite taste good as it should be. Average/typical Vietnamese restaurant. A lot more roomier than the other pho restaurants in the area - so it's good if you plan to come as a group.

PLACE IS ILL Really puts the wowie back in zowie. Only place that serves a CONSISTENT bowl of pho round here... the other spots are so hit or miss... at Pho Hang you know you'll get a decent bowl every time. Plenty of things to choose from, located in a killer strip mall, but not many veggie options (no surprise there). This place has Vietnamese DVDs going nonstop but it's on mute and it's always news bits so I can't tell what's going on. Last time I ate there they had on footage of a wrecked shipyard or something. All I remember about it was seeing booeys and mangled fish/boat parts on this beach, I was starving. My profile pic is from the poster in the bathroom at this place. Sometimes after a bowl of pho you get super buzzed for some reason, and usually I stare at this poster for a good 5 minutes and trip myself out. It's called Genesis II by some dude name Donald I think.... Also there are a bunch of fake tropical plants everywhere which is a HUGE BONUS. This place gets a GIMME DAT stamp of approval.

I've seen this place change for the past several years. For the first few years I ate at this restaurant, the only people who served me were one of the two owners. However, over the past year and a half, it has become progressively more popular and established. As such, the last three times I have eaten there, I've been served by younger guys. Sadly, the service is still the same: inconsistent, inattentive, unenthusiastic, and not disciplined. FORTUNATELY, the pho is delicious. The broth is flavorful, not oily and not overpowered by any particular ingredient, such as star anise or cinnamon. The accompanying ingredients, such as thai basil and bean sprouts, are delivered fresh (i.e., not black and/or withering) and blend well with the broth. If you're into big portions, I recommend ordering the super-sized portion of pho, which is not listed on their menu, as the menu only lists one size for pho. Moreover, the porkchop with rice and the goi cuon (i.e., summer garden rolls) are delicious. I prefer both of these dishes with extra fish sauce, but some prefer the hoi sin sauce.

Pho in a nut shell is a rice noodle soup. It consists of a meat (usually chicken or beef) broth with rice noodles and slices of meat, tendon, intestines, etc. on top. I usually go with the one with everything on it, but everyone has different tastes. So you can choose any combination (which is usually on the menu.) The accompanying veggies are bean sprouts, thai mint, a leafy jagged veggie I never bothered to learn the name, and jalapeno peppers. If you want to be authentic (I think), you need to squeeze some lime into the Pho, squeeze the Sriracha Hot Sauce and Hoisin Sauce, and top it all with veggies. (Actually I saw some of my Vietnamese friends do this...) Or you can take my approach at enjoying this meal: 1) Squeeze the lime and top with veggies. (The squeezed lime piece I dump into the glass of water I get.) 2) Enjoy some of the noodles, the beef, and veggies with no sauce distractions. 3) Squeeze some of the Sriracha into the noodles and enjoy some spicy variation of the noodles. You decide the hotness. 4) Lastly, squeeze some of the hoisin sauce, which adds another dimension of flavor and a nice touch of sweetness. This way I can enjoy the same soup three different ways without getting tired of the same flavor throughout the meal. As you can tell, I LOVE Pho. When I discovered this place by chance, I was stoked. I frequently come here for my Pho fix, so I have no complaints. I've been meaning to try out their Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwiches), but the Pho always lures me in. One day, I will review this...

I was in the mood for either fish or soup tonight. My friend suggested we do some pho. As my friend and I drove into the parking lot of Pho Hang, it was clear that we were in for a quality experience. The parking lot was full and quite busy with cars going in and out, cars standing in front of shops and restaurants where people were getting food to go. Pho Hang is located in one of those great little Asian strip malls complete with an appropriately stinky (which, paradoxically, to me is a good sign that they've got a lot of things I might be looking for) grocery store; Chinese BBQ store; a nail parlor; and a bakery, which prominently displayed siaopao. Asian were people hustling and bustling. The stars looked like they were aligned just right. The place was fairly crowded, probably 85% full, which I took as a good sign too. They had me from the moment I looked at the pictures of the food in the menu. Fried eggs on rice with some meat or fish? Uh...yeah. You got me. Crispy duck in a bowl of broth? Yeah. You got me. The menu has great variety. If I'm not mistaken, there was no attempt at some kind of pan-Asian fusion nonsense. Thank you, Pho Hang. Pho was what I came for. So, I ordered a seafood pho to kind of satisfy my fish/seafood craving. It had some dumplings, shrimp, and fish cake. I put in my bean sprouts and lime. Of course, some Sriracha had to go into the mix. It totally hit the spot. The great tang from the Sriracha and lime perfectly accented the savory broth, which was perfectly seasoned. I fully intend to go back there to try some other things. I'd love to hit that place up for a breakfast, getting one of the dishes with a fried egg. I think I'll be back for that crispy duck soup. For sure, I'll be back for a pho with meat or one of their vermicelli and meat dishes. I enjoyed it. I'll be back. I'm not sure yet, but I might like Thuy Trang a bit better. I'll have to get one of the meat phos to see for sure.

First off, I've never had Vietnamese food before and this was my first roll of the dice. I think my pallet needs more time before I decide if what I had was worth getting again. That is not to say that I didn't like it, because I slurped it down lightning fast. Anyway, the story starts here... I am constantly on the lookout for new exotic food to try. I saw Pho Hang from the street and I decided to give it a try. I walk in and notice right off the bat I'm not in Kansas(Michigan) anymore. So the towering giant white boy looks upon a sea of Asians busy eating lunch and sees nothing like your typical 'Please seat yourself' sign. I am never one to stand at the door looking silly while I wait for somebody to seat me. If nobody shows up within 10 seconds I seat myself. For whatever reason I didn't B-line to the corner and hide. I walk over to the middle table like I own the place and sit right down. The server wasn't the friendliest in the world, but I'm not put off by that. The menu is the part that intimidates me. It has about 50-60 dishes and they are arranged in about 6 categories in Vietnamese that offer little explanation to those in-immersed in the cusinse. Aside from saying 'Rice noodle, chicken soup broth' they list some pretty wild ingredients. Tripe, pork cubes, meat balls, duck leg, and the biggest gamble you'd ever want to make 'Assorted deep fried meat'. At this point I scan the menu and settle on something simple that hopefully won't kill me #38 Hu Tieu Mi. The description says it is slice pork and noodles in broth soup, alright SOLD! I sit there playing with the chopsticks, watch the better versed people eat, send a text and try not to feel too out of place. A plate shows up with bean sprouts, chilli's and a lime wedge. I'm not sure whats going on here, but I wait and see what happens next. A few moment later this huge bowl of steaming soup shows up. A simple chicken noodle soup broth, veggies, pork slices, green onion, and the magic ingredient cilantro. It all makes senses now and I dump the sprouts into the simmering soup and start attacking. I start slurping down the clear noodles and as I dive deeper I notice there is another kind of noodle awaiting me that taste similar to Ramen but thinner in size. The dish itself was a bit simple, but I guess that's what I get for ordering the most tame thing on the menu. The pork was amazing in that way that only an Asian knows how to make it taste. Not that sewage taste I always associate pork with, but that sweet and slightly smokey doctoring they do to it that makes it truly to die for. There was something else floating around in my bowl that I couldn't identify. I want to say it was Bonito flakes, but didn't have the same taste. Whatever it was, it was great! My server hardly said anything to me after I ordered and I sat around sipping my water waiting for the bill to show up after I had stuffed myself silly. It never did. Finally I notice that everybody is walking up to the counter and paying, so monkey-see monkey-do. I laugh when my server questions me about what I ordered, like I have the slightest idea. I think my brain needs a few days to process exactly what it was I just put inside my body. I really wish now that I would have been more adventurous and ordered something more exotic. The menu had little bubbles saying 'popular' next to certain dishes that sounded so off the wall. Now thinking about it, yes I will definitely give this place another try. I am suddenly hungry for more :)

i grew up in a vietnamese household and moved 900 miles to live in detroit, but this feels a lot like home. they've got all my favorite dishes from childhood, lots of variations of the classic pho for everyone, and awesome beverages. their iced coffee is amazing- their $3 sandwiches are probably the best deal you can get sandwich wise, ever. the BEST thing you can do is bring a large group (6-8 people) here and get hot pots or shareable dishes (you can share pho, no problem). and make it a huge group/family function, especially for those unfamiliar with vietnamese food and have them taste a bit of everything. people are always laughing, smiling, and having fun here. there's a lot of restaurants you will go to that are just forks hitting plates all night. not here. the only thing i don't like about this place is sometimes it's so crowded i can't get a good seat (may be seen as a great thing), and the fact that sometimes language can be an issue. your best bet is just saying the number and holding said number up on your fingers. also- sometimes my table doesn't come with the right sauce rack so i have to steal it from another table. not sure why this happens to me so often. i speak fluent vietnamese, but my dialect is different from some of the employees so it's the same as not understanding at all. but pho hang is an affordable, unique, and delicious dining experience. they've really stepped up the decor. the pho is always quality, as are the spring rolls. great for families!

For many years now I've wanted to try Pho, but have never got around to it. Well, that all changed today. Searching for a place to eat lunch, I noticed Pho Hang and thought HELL YES - PHO TIME. As I walked through the door, I immediately realized that I stuck out because all eyes were on me as though I walked into the ladies' room. No matter, I took a seat in the corner out of the gaze of most of the patrons. I felt a totally different vibe from the waitress who was incredibly nice and helpful. I was honest and told her that I'd never been to their restaurant. She immediately told me to try the Pho. I was already on that wavelength. What put me over the top was the ingredients: flank steak, tendon, meatballs, & tripe! This was the "house special" Pho and my was it ever special! This had to be one of the most satisfying meals I've ever tasted. For $7, the bowl was bigger than my head filled with beef, noodles, and a delicious broth. On the side was a plate of bean sprouts, basil, and a hot chili pepper for me to put into the Pho as I pleased. Of course, I just dumped it all in the bowl. Combination of cold and hot was perfect and the chili pepper added both a seering heat and fresh flavor. The tendon and tripe were both melt in your mouth tender. Pho is awesome. A great experience. Good service, excellent food, and very affordable. Nothing to complain about here. I can't wait to try Pho at other places now and to return to Pho Hang to try their other signature dishes.

#47 on the menu is what I get every time I go there nearly. The fresh rolls are great as are the spring rolls. Service is a bit slow but its well worth the wait. If you only have a few bucks to spend on dinner this is the place to go to get a great meal that will feed you the next day as well. The duck in clay pot is very good.

Amazing pho! I ordered the one with the rare beef and it was delicious and filling. The broth was flavorful without being greasy. We have tried 3 other popular Vietnamese restaurants in the area for pho recently and Pho Hang is hands down the best.

If you are looking for good Pho (Vietnamese beef noodle soup), that is what I had here and though it was definitely good, I would have to recommend that the Pho is better (more meat, noodles, better portion for same price) down the street at Thuy Trang. The dishes looked comparable here and may perhaps offer better variety, that I am not sure of. But I can say that the Pho is better at Thuy Trang. Here at Pho Hang the Pho is decent but something was missing and whatever that void was - was filled for me over at Thuy Trang. Also the non-Pho dishes here tend to be about $2-5 more than at Thuy Trang. I have yet to try Thang Long, which I hear is good as well!

Like many of the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, walking in, you will see nothing special... unless you think a restaurant full of vietnamese people in Southeast Michigan is special. You walk in, and the people are very friendly and sit wherever you want. The restaurant is laid out like a strip mall restaurant, and maybe a little less comfortable than a McDonalds. However, I had their shrimp rolls, which were very good and then they brought me an avocado shake, which was also very good. And then came the pho, and the pho was great. I would definitely come back here for the food. However, I do like Thuy Trang quite a bit more... actually, writing this review made me hungry, I am heading to Thuy Trang for some Pho

We eat here regularly. Good place for a quick bowl of good noodle soup of many varieties. There is Pho with beef tendon, tripe & sliced beef or other combinations of beef. They have fish & fowl shops with a variety of noodles along with pork soups but I tend to stick to the Pho, the national dish of Vietnam. While the broths are not the riches I have ever had the soups come with a plate of fresh Thai basil, bean sprouts, peppers and lime. The tables have all the fish & hot sauces you want so you really build you soup to taste. Have fun. The place is in a strip mall surrounded by other Asian shops. There is usually a fair number Of Vietnamese and other folks of Asian origin well mixed with North Americans. Try something different and have fun.

This place is DIRTY!! I had to stop coming because of the smoking indoors. Service is horrible! They ignore you to chit chat with their friends who are all sitting around taking up table space playing Chinese chess. Food is ok but this place has more options than Thuy Trang or Que Huong. Still not worth coming here. If you're looking for some basic viet food go to Thuy Trang.

Ahhh yes... This place. Some random guy told me about it. If you read my reviews you may find that I tend to be a social guy. This is how I found out about this place, some random stranger I was talking to told me about it. So I checked it out. If you are in the mood for soup, Just do yourself a favor and go here. Look, the service is crap - count on it. Depending on the day I may or may not get refills on my water. The atmosphere is probably only a step above cafeteria level, but who cares! This is not the place to bicker and argue about service at. Stay Focused, you're going for the Soup. It's like 7 bucks for most of them and you will not get soup as a side dish - it's an in your face meal. The bowl is HUGE and the soup has a small garden in it and a bunch of noodles. On the side they bring you sprouts and possibly some clippings from some sort of plant, but it's all so delicious! The table is preset with big spoons and all sorts of sauces like Hoisen and Sriracha (Sirahchi!!!). Every time I have been there there's the cool people table. It's always in the same spot and has like 3-6 people sitting around just talking about stuff in I'm assuming Vietnamese since I don't understand it but it somehow adds character to the place. Anyways - I think that's it. The menu has all sorts of different kinds of soup. You want chicken or fish or pork or duck, you can get it. Just do yourself a favor and check it out if you're around it. Cheap, filling, good and your mom will be proud you went if you have a cold or the sniffles. Tell them Geese Sent you, but they're probably not gonna know who in the hell you're talking about.

Have no clue as to how anyone writes well of this restaurant. It's is flat out horrible. Decided to try a new place and EPIC DISAPPOINTMENT doesn't do it justice. Of the two entrees, one app & soup, only one mouthful of each was eaten. The rest like my $36 went int the garbage.

Walking in here is like I'm in Vietnam. This place may not have the nicest decor, but their food is authentic like I'm eating pho in Vietnam. This is prehaps the best pho place I've been. Their food is fresh, from the bean sprouts to basil and mint to noodles they bring out. Their eggrolls are awesome. I really feel like I'm in Vietnam and eating all these freshly made food. It's way better than Blue Star, and if I have time, I would drive that far to get their pho.

Having been here so many times over the years, I don't know if I like it out of habit or if it's just good. The truth is it's one of (at any given time) five real Vietnamese Pho restaurants in the area. I won't count the fusion places that are unable to deliver when it comes to the the fundamentals. The truth is it's grown from a one shop place into a very nice stopover. They recently added a vestibule, added staff and changed their serving procedures so your server brings everything to the table instead of it just being there (if you've had pho before, you understand what I mean). As far as I've ever been able to tell, people fall into two camps: like it or leave it. If you have any affinity for Vietnamese food, try this place and you won't regret it. Order the spring rolls (deep fried or fresh) The menu doesn't translate well, so be prepared. The prices are higher now but still 40% cheaper than the fusion houses and 10% cheaper than direct competitors. AND they've banned smoking in the restaurant.

Service is a little hit or miss (they're not rude at all, but they get busy and it can be hard for them to get to you if you're dining in). That is easily overlooked by their amazing food. I can not get enough of the Pho Ga! I had a terrible cold that would not go away. I had that, and it cured it right up! So good! So amazing! Do yourself a favor and go to this place.

Pho here is okay for the average customer. Because of the lack of competition in this area, I think it'll suffice for many Asian diners who are just too lazy or are next door buying up asian groceries. Pho takes at least 4 hours to make and when I want it, I expect them to have a 8-hr pot ready for me. It was decent, good food, nothing to write home about. I got my fix and I left.

When I first came to this place, it was always so crowded and I had to wait for over 10 minutes to get to a table. Then, they expanded their restaurant. Now, the place is full of tables and chairs. The staffs are very friendly. The food is great! I especially love the pho, it is a Vietnamese rice noodle with beef, pork. The soup is very delicious. I also like the spring roll. It comes 4 in one order. The price is very reasonable. Overall, the service is good.

I don't even know why this place is rated 4 stars, it is one of the worst Pho I've ever had in Michigan. It use to be very good but I think it had a new owner and the food just went down hill from there. The other Pho restaurant next street down on John R taste a lot better. I certainly do not recommend this Pho place, I know there are at least 3 other places around that have a lot better Pho than this place, this one rank last on my list.

Really good Vietnamese food! The pho (clear broth noodle soup) is excellent. And they have these great stuffed buns that are a total meal in itself. I also love the pork and egg on rice. You really come here and spend some time gorging yourself. It is really worth the drive out. Everyone that has been recommended to come here has not been disappointed yet!

Another Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant that serves many different kinds of soups. The pho was good but not my favorite. I go to Pho Hang when my favorite pho joint is closed. It is located in a strip mall and usually filled with Chinese customers. There are two televisions that usually have some sort of karaoke playing.

I wish this were just a bit closer to work. . . .

  • Maria D.

Something about their pho broth doesn't quite taste good as it should be. Average/typical Vietnamese restaurant. A lot more roomier than the other pho restaurants in the area - so it's good if you plan to come as a group.

It's noisy. Space is too narrow to walk. Service is bad (especially if you want refill). Food is ok, but I can never eat comfortably whenever I go here. Sorry =(.

Great alternative for authentic Vietnamese cuisine for those visiting the casinos and only 14 miles from downtown.

I have visited about 4 times and it is my favorite Vietnamese style restaurant. Quite a variety of dishes on the menu. Lots of locals with family seeming to have a good time.

My favorite place to eat! There aren't many vegetarian options. Only two i think. But the vegetable noodle stir fry thing is delicious. Some of the best food I've ever had.

Sorry Pho Hang, you are at the bottom of my Vietnamese of Detroit list.

everything tastes good but this place is very dated and they don't really use quality ingredients

Place has good pho. Fresh rolls good. Kinda cramped seating. The young guy that was serving us was horrible. Second time with the bad service.

Oh yeah, this is the it. Pho was very savory, tasty, exotic, super filling and inexpensive. We went on a Saturday night, about 8 pm and the place was very busy. Service was quick and friendly.

Go there!
